I live in Tucson, AZ and I have never had a desire to own a timeshare in my life.  In May of 2005, my wife and I went to a time share presentation in Sedona only for the $150 cash.  There were two preconceived ideas I had about time shares. 

1.) Why would I want to go to the same place every year at the same time every year?  I was wrong on this.  My wife and I were sold on the idea of time shares when we found out about the quality of the units and the trading power which meant we could go where we wanted when we wanted. 

2.)The other preconceived idea I had about time shares was buying time shares new; they were overpriced.  After checking out resale prices, I was right about this.

 

 My wife was ready to buy at Sedona.(Remember, you have to buy then or you lose the great deal they offer you),  I told her I wanted to check out the resale market first.  I checked out newspaper ads with private parties, a local Sedona resale broker and two other National resale brokers with ads in USA Today.  All of these were considerably cheaper than buying new; however, every one I talked to seemed irritated by my many questions.

 

When I finished my vacation in Sedona, I searched the internet at home and found Scott's company and Trading Time.   I called Scott with my many questions and he spent over an hour talking to me about time shares and answered every question I had.  I purchased 7 weeks from Scott for a lot less than the one week in Sedona.  These transactions were completed in less than 30 days from my initial visit in Sedona.  Since then Scott has returned every phone call within 24 hours with my many questions and walked me through many transactions.  As the years have gone by, I do not talk to Scott very often.  The reason is he taught me well.  I understand what I am doing.  Scott will still call me every now and then to see if I have any more questions.  We always talk about where I have been, where he's been and our walk with Jesus Christ.

 

Since the purchase of my timeshares I have used the time shares for many one or two night stays in Phoenix.  I was in Phoenix for business trips and many concerts.(Robert Plant, Paul McCartney, Earth, Wind and Fire, Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper).  I booked 3 rooms same place, same night for Promise Keepers in Phoenix.  A bunch of us came up from Tucson.  On the Fourth of July, I booked 3 rooms, invited a bunch of friends, stayed in a local time share and had the best spot in Tucson for the fireworks show. 

Our family has gone to Hawaii(2 weeks), Carlsbad, CA(1 week), Oregon(2 weeks), Las Vegas(2 weeks)White Mountains in AZ(1 week).  All of these are in luxury places with at least 2 or 3 bedrooms.  In the future I have booked New York(1 week), Vermont(1 week), Las Vegas(1 week) and San Diego(1 week)

I also have over 400,000 points to spend(I will spend them)

Per's Scott's instructions, I have traded my one bedroom weeks account which is worth about 27,000 points into 2 or 3 bedroom places worth over 50,000 and up to 80,000 points.

 

Our first trip was to Hawaii.  When we arrived and checked in, they wanted us to go the time share presentation and we would get to do two activities for free.  We did this and it was embarrassing.  The salesman gave us his pitch and I explained what I paid for my time share.  His whole face dropped and he said he could not compete.  The time share salesman was also thinking about getting a time share for his dad and I gave him Scott's number.  I now avoid the time share presentations no matter what freebies they offer me.

Helaine and I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we are enjoying our  timeshare property in South Africa which we’ve been using to trade for our vacations.

 

The property you suggested in Acapulco, the Gran Mayan Palace, was positively breathtaking. We are very experienced travelers, and this resort was probably the most luxurious one we have ever visited.

 

From the marble foyer, the magnificent pool areas, the great restaurants, and the huge room accommodations, we couldn’t have pictured or designed a better destination. The weather was great, and the activities and local sightseeing was just superb.

 

Suffice it to say, we had visited Acapulco before, but never in such luxury!

 

We followed up our winter vacation with the trip to Hilton Head that you helped us arrange. The Port Royal Plantation was in the most convenient and centrally located area on the island. We and our friends thoroughly enjoyed the condominium which was spacious, and had all the possible amenities we could need.

 

We had our choice of countless great restaurants, shopping, and terrific golf. In addition, Hilton Head is most conveniently located to both Savannah and Charleston which we visited as well. 

 

As you know, five of our friends have also purchased time share properties from you, and we are happy to say that they are just as pleased and excited as we are. As a matter of fact we plan vacations with two of them, further expanding our vacation possibilities.

 

We also appreciate all the advice you’ve given us in planning our vacations. We know how familiar you are with so many of the destinations and properties, and it’s so great to have someone we can consult with to get the “inside scoop” on where to go and what will be our best option.

Hi Scott,

 

 Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with our South Africa timeshare purchase.  We have owned this for several years but have not gone to South Africa once.  We have traded it for some great resorts though.  We have traded it for the Kona Billfisher in 2000, Paniola Greens in 2001, The Westin Regina, P.V. in 2002, and this year Porto Rio Resort in Patras, Greece!  Hawaii, Mexico, and Greece; That's great trading power!

Unfortunately we have bought several timeshares directly through the resorts, which we were told had great trading power and do not have as good of trading power as our South Africa resort.  We have learned our lesson very expensively, and in the future will only buy on the secondary market through you!  In fact, we are going to sell all the resorts we bought direct and replace them with purchases through you.

Dear Scott,

First off, THANKS.......our very first outing to an RCI property was wonderful.  Marvin and I, with a lot of help from you were able to fly off to sunny Puerto Vallarta.  The property was just beautiful, Velas Vallarta in the heart of the Marina.  The weather was 90 every day and the sun didn't stop all week long.  We had a wonderful time.  Everyone at the property was full of cheer and more than accommodating.  We know we made the right decision by purchasing a week through you.  You were more than gracious with your help and I look forward to our next vacation. 

We have told so many of our friends of our experience and I believe you should be hearing from at least a few of them.

Dear Scott,

    Thanks for all your assistance, it's great to have you on our side. I am so lucky that I was referred to you and really appreciate your help with all of our timeshare needs. This is our first timeshare experience and it has been a really positive one, and in no small measure because of you.  We had a great time in the Texas Hill Country this spring and are looking forward to staying at Fairfield Bay Resort in Arkansas this fall on our bonus week. Our South African property trades so well and is such a great value.  I just wish we had more time to enjoy it, I would have bought a month worth of property.

It's been awhile, but wanted to update you on recent trades.  We were able to stay at the Links in Scottsdale (Gold Crown) in August.  Had a great time!  We just received confirmation that we have a 3 bedroom in Hilton Head summer of 2007 at The Island Links (Gold Crown). 

 

With kids it's nice to know we can take them on vacation on not worry about how much we are spending on the room!  We went to Orlando last summer and stayed at another Gold Crown resort and the kids had a blast!

Dear Scott,

Our experience with you & Trading Time has been great. I really appreciate your help in guiding us through the the trading process and along the way finding the Presidential Suite in Branson.  The Silverleaf resort is located right on the Table Rock Lake, has a private dock and boat ramp, an olympic pool and many other family related features. The 2 bedrooms, 2 bath with a private deck and grill will be great.

 Your follow-up and customer service are a refreshing change to the normal "rake and take" found in the timeshare sales offices.  We are looking forward to many great vacations using our South African property as trading stock.
